CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

Here are recaps from Friday's quarterfinal games:

Game 1: No. 7 Florida College 84, No. 3 Washington Adventist University 81

Florida College held onto a seven-point halftime lead to score the first upset of the day. Washington Adventist (15-10) methodically sliced into that advantage throughout the second half and pulled with a point, at 56-55, following Chase Cook's 3-point field goal with 9:30 remaining in the game. That's as close as the Shock would come to overcoming their early deficit as the Falcons got clutch 3-pointers from Jacob Joseph, Aiden Wall and Cameron Knox along with some key defensive stops in the final minutes.

Malik Beauford led Florida College with a game-high 26 points, being successful on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 from beyond the 3-point arc. Wall added 16 points and Joseph had 14 points – in 14 minutes off the bench. Chris Fetuga had a game-high 12 rebounds. The Falcons made 50 percent of their field goals and 48 percent of their 3-pointers for the game.

Meanwhile, Joey Brown IV led a balanced offensive effort with 22 points – 19 coming in the second half – for Washington Adventist. He also had a team-high 10 rebounds. Cook followed closely with 21 points, while Micah Samuels contributed 10 points and Anthony Perry had nine points.

Game 2: No. 5 Fisher College 80, No. 4 Morris College 75

Fisher's defense kept Morris off the scoreboard within the first five minutes of the second half, turning a 35-32 halftime deficit into a 40-35 lead following two jump shots by Anthony Saunders, a basket by Anthony Douglas Jr. and a layup from Justin Covington. The Hornets reclaimed the lead once their offensive got back on track, with consecutive jump shots by Damian Mack giving the team a 46-40 lead with 11:56 remaining. Then, the Falcons clamped down defensively once again and took the lead for good, at 49-48, with 8:32 left in the contest. They would move out to their biggest lead of the second half, at 64-55, following a dunk by Amari Jamison and maintained an advantage through a hectic final five minutes.

Fisher enjoyed a balanced offensive attack, with Covington and Saunders each having 14 points, Jamison having 13, Ezekiel Edwards with 12, and Jad Reda contributing 11 points.

Morris (12-14) had three double-digit scorers, led by Gary Bair's game-high 20 points. Mack followed with 13 points and Michael Wynn had 11 points. Julian Miller collected a game-high 11 rebounds.
