Strong Performances Earn CAC Cross Country Runner of the Week Honors

Florida College sophomore Sam Johnson and Florida National University sophomore Lismar Bentancourt have been selected as the Continental Athletic Conference Cross Country Runners of the Week.

Johnson, the men's recipient, ran a personal-best 25:59 over eight kilometers at the UAH Charger Invite last Saturday in Huntsville, Alabama. He lowered his person best time by 32 seconds, a mark set at last season's NAIA national championship meet.

Bentancourt, the women's honoree, placed eighth at the Ave Maria University Invitational last Saturday in Ave Marie, Florida. The Valencia, Venezuela, native covered the 5-kilometer course in 19:58.4 against a field that featured NCAA Division II schools Barry University (Florida), Eckerd College (Florida) and Saint Leo University (Florida).
