Florida National’s Martinez, Bentancourt Earn CAC Cross Country Runner of the Week Honors

Florida National University has swept the Continental Athletic Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week awards for the second time this fall.

Sophomore Mario Martinez is the Men's Runner of the Week, while freshman Lismar Bentancourt has been named the Female Runner of the Week.

Martinez continues to have a strong 2024 season after a solid showing at the University of North Florida 5K XC Challenge. He placed 81st with a time of 18:42.7 while competing against NCAA Division I and Division II runners.

Bentancourt had a brilliant debut race for the Conquistadors at the North Florida 5K XC Challenge, placing 54th with a time of 21:44.4. She competed against a tough field of NCAA competition, including Division II University of Tampa and Division I Florida A&M University.
