Strong Performances Earn CAC Women’s Volleyball Weekly Accolades
Westcliff University (California) seniors Samantha Carelock and Amanda Ferreira joined Carolina University (North Carolina) freshman Kai Horta in receiving Continental Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week awards.
Carelock, the Attacker of the Week, tallied 32 kills while having 10 or more kills in each of three matches for the Warriors last week. She also recorded six service aces and had eight total blocks.
Ferreira, the Setter of the Week, averaged 10.11 assists per set while amassing 91 assists over the course of the team's final three home matches. She opened the week with 41 assists in a 3-0 sweep against Park University-Gilbert (Arizona) last Wednesday. Ferreira also recorded 23 digs, four blocks and two service aces in that match.
Horta, the Defender of the Week, was outstanding in the Bruins' tri-match against Washington Adventist University (Maryland) and Bob Jones University (South Carolina) last Friday. She averaged 4.14 digs per set while having 29 digs for the week. Horta had a perfect serve reception percentage in the team's victory against Washington Adventist.
