Carolina Sweeps CAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Awards
Strong offensive and defensive performances have earned Carolina University (North Carolina) junior Dearia Page and sophomore MeiLani Patterson honors as the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Players of the Week.
Page, the offensive award recipient, averaged 25 points and 11.5 rebounds and made 54.5 percent of her field goals across two games last week. She scored 35 points on 12-of-17 shooting in a 78-72 victory against Elizabeth City State University (North Carolina) on Sunday. The Charlotte native began the week with 15 points in a 76-70 loss to Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) last Wednesday. The guard played 74 of 80 minutes in both games.
Patterson, the defensive honoree, grabbed an average of 13.5 rebounds and had 4.5 steals last week. The Graham, North Carolina, native had a double-double performance with 19 points and 17 rebounds against Spartanburg Methodist. The guard followed that by collecting 10 rebounds and having seven steals in the victory against Elizabeth City State.
