Florida National Freshmen Sweep CAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards to Open 2026

Florida National University freshmen Ziul Gonzalez and Maria De Gracia have earned the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week awards to open the 2026 calendar year.

Gonzalez, the offensive recipient, posted a team-high 26 points in an 85-80 loss to the University of Fort Lauderdale (Florida) last Friday. The guard made nine of her 17 field goals and eight of her nine free throws in the game. The Miami native also had three assists and three rebounds.

De Gracia, the defensive honoree, grabbed nine rebounds and recorded one steal in the Conquistadors game at Fort Lauderdale. The forward had seven of her nine rebounds on the defensive side of the court. The Panama City, Panama, native is averaging 14 points and eight rebounds per game for FNU.
