Westcliff, Alice Lloyd Players Earn CAC Softball Weekly Awards

Westcliff University (North Carolina) senior Alyssa Patlan and Alice Lloyd College (Kentucky) sophomore Arin Rife have been named the Continental Athletic Conference Softball Players of the Week.

Patlan, the Hitter of the Week, batted .500 (3-for-6), scored three runs and drove in a pair of runs as the Warriors split a doubleheader last Friday Arizona Christian University, a team receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 national poll. The Fullerton, California, native scored twice in a 4-3 win in the nightcap.

Rife, the Pitcher of the Week, went 3-0 and had a save across four appearances inside the circle for the Eagles. She had a 0.39 earned run average and recorded 29 strikeouts across 18 innings. Rife had nine strikeouts in a 3-2 win against Bluefield University (Virginia) last Tuesday. The runs allowed in that game were unearned. The Grundy, Virginia, native added 10 strikeouts and scattered three hits in a 10-2 victory against Kent State Tuscarawas last Friday.
