Westcliff Sweeps CAC Softball Player of the Week Awards

Westcliff University (California) freshman Jessica Guillen and senior Madison Mendez have been named the Continental Athletic Conference Softball Players of the Week after performances that helped lead the Warriors to split a doubleheader last week.

Guillen, the Hitter of the Week, batted .545 (6-for-11) with five runs batted in and one home run. The native of Chino, California, drove in the lone run in a 1-0 win against Nelson University (Arizona) last Thursday. Guillen went 5-for-8 in the doubleheader.

Mendez, the Pitcher of the Week, tossed a two-hit shutout across eight innings in the 1-0 victory at Nelson. The right hander from Santee, California, posted a 3.17 earned run average across three appearances inside the circle last week.
