Haskell Indian Nations’ Roberts, Florida National’s Beteta Collect CAC Softball Weekly Awards

Helping Haskell Indian Nations University (Kansas) and Florida National University to victories has led Chasely Roberts and Brunena Beteta to collecting the Continental Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week awards.

Roberts, the Hitter of the Week, was nearly flawless at the plate by going 7-for-8 and hitting a pair of home runs. The first baseman hit a two-run home run to lead the Fightin' Indians to their first win of the season in the opener of last Thursday's doubleheader against Kansas Christian College. The Isabel, Oklahoma, native had a 3-for-3 performance and hit a solo home run in the nightcap.

Beteta, the Pitcher of the Week, had a 4-0 record and a save in 30.2 innings for the Conquistadors last week. She posted a 1.14 earned run average across those five appearances in the circle. The Lima, Peru, native scattered four hits and allowed two unearned runs in a 5-2 win against Judson University (Illinois) last Saturday. One day earlier, Beteta had six strikeouts in a shutout performance against University of Michigan-Dearborn.
