Florida College’s Johnson, Spartanburg Methodist’s Outhous Receive Season’s Final CAC Cross Country Weekly Awards

Florida College freshman Sam Johnson and Spartanburg Methodist College sophomore Sophia Outhous have been selected the final Continental Athletic Conference Cross Country Runners of the Week for the 2024 season.

Johnson, the men's honoree, placed 84th out of 207 runners in last Friday's NAIA Appalachian Challenge. The Saltillo, Mississippi, native posted a time of 26:44.3 over the 8-kilometer course.

Outhous, the women's recipient, recorded the fourth fastest 5-kilometer time in program history while competing in the NAIA Appalachian Challenge. The Irmo, South Carolina, native crossed the line in 19:01.1 to lead the Pioneers with a 36th place finish out of 190 runners in the meet.

Runners and teams are now preparing for the CAC Championships on November 8 in Temple Terrace, Florida. The meet is being hosted by Florida College.
