Florida National University Garners CAC Cross Country Weekly Awards

Strong performances by Florida National University sophomore Dimitrious Gkantatsios and freshman Lismar Bentancourt have been recognized with the Continental Athletic Conference Cross Country Runners of the Week awards.

Gkantatsios, the men's award winner, had a strong debut for the Conquistadors at last Saturday's Ave Maria University Invitational by placing 49th with a time of 29:14.8 over the 8-kilometer race. The meet had runners from NCAA Division I and Division II teams, including Florida International University and the University of Tampa.

Bentancourt, the women's honoree, set a personal and school record with a 24:01.7 time over six kilometers at the Ave Maria Invitational. That's seven seconds better than the previous records. The Valencia, Venezuela, native was among the top 15 finishers when competing against runners from NCAA Division I and Division II competitors.
