Florida College’s Collins, Spartanburg Methodist’s Outhous Named CAC Cross Country Runners of the Week

Recent strong performances have had Florida College freshman Daniel Collins and Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) sophomore Sophia Outhous recognized as the Continental Athletic Conference Cross Country Runners of the Week.

Collins, the men's honoree, was the fourth highest finishing freshman in the Southeastern Fire Invitational in Lakeland, Florida. He placed 11th out of 74 runners in his first ever 8-kilometer race, with a time of 28:32 over the distance.

Outhous, this week's women's honoree, recorded a personal best time of 19:44.8 in the season-opening meet to lead SMC in the USC Upstate Eye Opener in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The Irmo, South Carolina, native was among the fastest in a strong field that was filled with 156 runners from NAIA and NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III teams.
