First CAC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Players of the Week for 2026 Season Announced

Florida National University junior Mario Martinez and Alice Lloyd College (Kentucky) senior Gerald Bentley have been selected as the Continental Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Track & Field Players of the Week. This is the first weekly awards for the 2026 spring season.

Martinez, the Athlete honoree, set a personal best in the 800-meter race with a time of 1:55.90 at the University of Miami Hurricane Invitational. The Miami native won the event last Saturday.

Bentley, the Field recipient, has had a dominant start to the season. He won the triple jump (10.14 meters) and long jump (5.10 meters) at the Kentucky Christian Knights Invitational last Monday. The Mud Creek, Kentucky, native also placed third in the discus throw (26.06 meters), fifth in the high jump (1.79 meters), and seventh in the javelin throw (39.37 meters) at the Eastern Kentucky University Spring Invitational last Friday.
