Simpson, Georgia Gwinnett Players Earn CAC Baseball Weekly Awards

Simpson University (California) junior JJ Torrente and Georgia Gwinnett College senior Shane Anderson have collected the Continental Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week awards in the home stretch of the 2026 season.

Torrente earned the Hitter of the Week honor after batting .500 (7-for-14) and scoring six runs to help the Red Hawks win three of four games in a series against Nelson University (Arizona) last weekend. The outfielder hit a pair of home runs and drove in nine runs during the series. Torrente went 4-for-4 and drove in six runs in a 10-5 series-opening victory last Friday. He added a home run and scored twice as part of a 2-for-4 performance in a 15-5 triumph to begin Saturday's doubleheader.

Meanwhile, Anderson received the Pitcher of the Week honor after recording seven strikeouts and scattering three hits across seven innings in a series-opening victory against Lindsey Wilson University (Kentucky) last Friday. The right-hander allowed one earned run during the Senior Day outing.
