Spartanburg Methodist’s Astudillo, Georgia Gwinnett College’s Harris Garner CAC Baseball Player of the Week Awards

Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) junior Dario Astudillo and Georgia Gwinnett College senior Ben Harris have garnered the Continental Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week awards.

Astudillo, the Hitter of the Week, had a pair of multiple-hit games to lead the Pioneers to a doubleheader sweep against Brewton-Parker College (Georgia). He registered three hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in six runs during the opener of the day.

Astudillo then collected two more hits and an RBI to go along with a walk in last Saturday's nightcap.

Harris, the Pitcher of the Week, was dominant in tossing a complete-game victory against No. 3-ranked Reinhardt University (Georgia) last Tuesday. The right hander struck out 10 batters and scattered six hits in the 4-1 triumph for the Grizzlies, ranked No. 2 nationally.

The Crystal Lake, Illinois, native lowered his season earned run average to 1.96 while improving to 8-0 on the season and 26-2 for his three-year GGC career. The complete game was the eighth of his time in Lawrenceville.
