Spartanburg Methodist’s Pinckney, Georgia Gwinnet College’s Moody Receive CAC Baseball Weekly Awards
Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) junior Jarian Pinckney and Georgia Gwinnett College senior Brendan Moody have been recognized as the Continental Athletic Conference Baseball Players of the Week.
Pinckney, the Hitter of the Week, batted .583 as the Pioneers had a 3-1 record for the week, including a three-game series sweep against fellow CAC opponent Morris College (South Carolina) last weekend. The Andrews, South, Carolina, native drove in six runs to go along with his .650 on-base percentage. Pinckney posted a 1.167 slugging percentage across the four games.
Moody, the Pitcher of the Week, was phenomenal for the No. 3-ranked Grizzlies as the right hander scattered four hits and struck out 11 batters in the team's first complete-game pitching performance of the season – against Toccoa Falls College (Georgia) last Saturday. His outing helped complete a three-game series sweep. The Iowa, Louisiana, native set career highs for strikeouts and innings pitching in the outing.
